New York, New York

Over the holiday, I was able to spend a day in New York City.

I was finally going to be able to check out famed folding bike shops NYCeWheels and BFold... or so I thought.

I first went to NYCeWheels on the upper east side and was greeted with this sign:

Oh well.  I headed back to SoHo to BFold and had a bit of deja vu:

I didn't come away completely empty handed though.  I met with Jeff, the inventor of Bromfoot.  He has developed something really cool and wanted me to check it out and give him some feedback.  I can't really reveal anything until Jeff's ready to go public, but I'll do a post when that time comes.

RIP Bert Cebular from NYCeWheels

In case you haven't heard the news, Bert Cebular, the owner of NYCeWheels, died last week in a tragic accident.  Bert was a pioneer in showcasing how awesome folding bikes are by opening his shop in NYC, doing Brompton tours in the city and fun rides like Brommie Yummie, and of course his famous videos on NYCeWheel's YouTube channel which have helped thousands of riders decide on a bike (myself included).

I was glad to have had the opportunity to contribute to the NYCeWheels site.  I've never been to the store, but I am actually heading to NYC later this month and will take the opportunity to drop in.

Condolences to Bert's family, friends and crew at NYCeWheels.

My guest spot on NYCewheels

Peter from NYCewheels asked me if I would contribute a piece for their website.  I was honored that Peter had read my blog and gave me this opportunity.  I decided that this would be a good opportunity to write a more comprehensive post about my first year with the Brompton.

The long awaited Brompton Toolkit is leaving me breathless

Wow.  Thanks to Unfold and Cycle Blog, I got to see a video shot by NYCe Wheels on the upcoming Brompton Toolkit.

Holy crap!  I think this was way beyond what any of us were expecting when Brompton announced that they were making a toolkit.  Time will tell, but it looks extremely well designed and a lot of time and care went into making things perfect.  I love that this company didn't just slap together some cheapo tools and rolled them up in some cheap canvas envelope thing and called it good enough.  I will be eagerly awaiting mine!
